There are many steps to the home buying process, so I wanted to give you a quick rundown of where it begins. Knowing these first few steps will help you understand how the process goes.

First, you want to meet with a mortgage lender. At this time, you'll talk through your income, any debts you have, assets, and credit. This will give you an idea of how much you can afford to spend on a home and what your monthly payment will look like. This all ties in with current interest rates.

The next step is to find a Realtor. The best way to find a Realtor is by a referral from someone you trust like a friend or coworker. You want to work with a Realtor you can trust who is likable, has experience, and has negotiating skills.

Find a Realtor you can trust who is also likable and has great negotiation skills.

Next, you want to discuss what's important to you in a home with your Realtor. This includes things like the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, parking, and features like finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms. After that, you want to talk about the area or neighborhood that you want to live in. This could tie in with conveniences like proximity to transportation or an expressway or schools if that's important to you and your family.

After that, you get to the exciting part, which is actually going out and looking at homes.
